The Worlds End The Plot – In THE WORLD’S END, 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
Who is in it?
- Simon Pegg of Hot Fuzz, Run Fatby Run, Mission Impossible III and Ghost Protocol, Shaun of the Dead, Star Trek into Darkness fame.
- Nick Frost whose credits include The Adventures of Tintin, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Paul, The Boat that Rocked, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.
- Martin Freeman most recently seen as Watson in the television series Sherlock but also most notably as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit.
- Paddy Consadine – Blitz, Submarine, The Bourne Ultimatum, Hot Fuzz and Cindarella Man.
- Eddie Marsan who has been seen in War Horse, Sherlock Holmes, Moby Dick, Hancock and V for Vendetta.
- Pierce Brosnan of James Bond fame do we need to say anything more?
- Rosamund Pike who was Bond girl Miranda Frost in Die Another Day and has also starred in Pride and Prejudice, Fracture and Johnny English Reborn
Is it any good?
The Worlds End is certainly one for the fans, written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright it forms the final film of “a trilogy” which included Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Fans will note references to the other movies through out and will enjoy the talents of this writing duo. Comic timing and a tight script ensures that the audience are engaged from beginning to end.
